Tuesday 16 June

We set off and wandered about, I was left behind a lot today.
Cleavers - we loved this as children, one summer a gang of us had cycled up on to Smithills Moors, we got it in our heads to make a green man, so the tiniest person there was made to volunteer for the ceremony, it was a young lad called Billy Topping (often wonder if he remembers, well who could forget) we soon found enough Cleavers or Sticky Willy as we called it and had this mad green boy chasing us around. Wished I'd had a camera back then, still I remember it like it was yesterday.
Common Figwort growing at the side of the Big Lodge.
Common Figwort Flowers & Buds.
Hedge Woundwort, found this in a lot of new places this year.

Prickly Sow Thistle
Prickly Sow Thistle - looking at the lower leaves shows the difference between Prickly & Smooth Sow Thistle, the rounded joint (auricles) to the stem - they are pointed on Smooth.
Terns are still on the raft.
