Monday 24 August

George arrived this morning - we did a circle round the lodges with him and then carried on over Duxbury.

It was a warm sunny morning - we had a good walk.
The acorns are finally forming.
Common Reed - I love the purple spikelets, especially in the breeze they look quite regal not common.
Don't know where this youngster has come from - I am sure the Great Crested Grebes on the lodge have had no young this year. Nice to see some new life.
Meadow Buttercup
Mugwort almost finished for another year
Scentless Mayweed
No sign of the Kingfisher today - we had a sighting a few days ago from one of the regulars at the sluice channel.
Billy the swan has heard us and he is making his way to the platform.
Water Mint finally confirmed.
Good sized patch although it may not be there tomorrow as they were on a mission with the strimmers today.
The columbine that was strimmed a while back (almost in flower) had sprouted again and yes you've guessed it strimmed again, oh well we might get to see it flower next year.
