Wednesday 23 March

Another lovely day - we set off for the Lower Burgh Meadow.

Fed the birds as we passed.

Cherry Plum - Prunus cerasifera

Daffodils

Goat Willow - Salix caprea

Gorse - Ulex europaeus

Ground Elder leaves - Aegopodium podagraria

The Long Tail Tit nest is still growing.

It is almost impossible to see from other angles.

Managed to get another bit of video.

  1. I don't know that goat willow. We are getting well acquainted with the tit, however! How big will the nest get?

  2. It's hard to believe, but I've never found a Long-Tailed Tits nest in my life.

  3. Hi Joan, it is an enclosed nest with entrance hole, today (no photo) the roof was taking shape. Will try for a photo tomorrow.
The willow is one of our most common.

Hi David, this is the first I have seen - we were in the right place at the right time.
