Very windy and of course wet.
I really wanted to show you the buds on this Horse-chestnut - Aesculus hippocastanum - but it was so windy, will try another day soon.
The buds are very sticky, there are always insects stuck on them, I am told that the sticky sap is protection against frost and insects, it seems to work.
This is a very young tree that was vandalised a few years ago the top half was broken off - it is now quite sturdy.

I don't recall ever seeing a small one. Of course I must have... but I guess I only pay attention to the large ones. Those sticky buds are the weirdest thing.
