Thursday 16 May

A day out on a flower walk but we also love to look at anything that interests us.
The weather forecast was showers and so we were all suitably attired, the weather was glorious sunshine all day.
We met at Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve, not far from home for me, it was a former Brick works and when the clay ran out in the 60s the site was left and of course nature took it over, rain has filled the former clay pits - the site is really a treat to visit.
Bogbean - Menyanthes trifoliata - the small pond was full of this and spearwort.
The large ponds are beautiful and have a good variety of birds on them.
Four young Coots relaxing
Daisy - Bellis perennis just loved this flush of daisies.
Young Great Crested Grebes - no sign of the parents

Take Care

  1. I have heard of bogbean, but never seen it. Doesn't grow in our part of the country. The babies are precious! There is English Daisy (what we call it) in the cemetery, but I haven't been able to get it to grow in my yard. I've tried.
