We ventured into Burgh Wood this morning


We wanted to look at one of the large Beech that toppled a few years ago,
the fungi are now making themselves at home

 As you can see it is still a sturdy piece of wood

 The Rangers made it as safe as possible 

 Foxglove - Digitalis purpurea growing under the old trunk these will flower next year

 These fungi are just a few that are on the Beech


This fallen Beech looks like it will be here for a long time providing shelter and being host to many fungi, insects, plants and animals.
