Sunday 2 March

We wandered in all directions and took lots of photos, so I will once again split them up.

As I have said in previous Blogs Birkacre was a heavily industrialised area, old photos show lots of buildings and chimneys, there was mining, bleaching and of coarse Sir Richard Arkwright's new mill built about 1777 and gone by 1780 due to the riots of the time, he never reopened it.
All this is part of the old mine workings

The old Shaft has been capped and fenced off
