Above freezing this morning.
The lodges are still frozen and this allowed us to see our first ringed Coot.
I remembered that I had read on http://birdringing.blogspot.com/ that Kane had been ringing coots a few months ago, so I emailed him the details and photo and yes it was one of his. He sent me the details about the bird, it was ringed on the 12 September 2010 at Bowness on Windermere.
The frozen lodge was the main reason we saw the rings, as they rarely come out of the water on this lodge to feed.
