Thursday 2 February

As you can see it was cold

 Mallard
 Black Headed Gull
All hoping for some food.
The wood for these new/old steps must have come from the pier that has been partly dismantled - it was built and never used.

Take Care.

Wednesday 1 February Part Three

Still in Queens Park

This is on the bridge and has been cleaned up it use to be beautifully painted, I am just glad to see it preserved and cared for.
Path down to the Bridge.
Steps that have seen a lot of use.
New playground
An old stone wall
View from the top of the steps
We always called this the pie crust, never knew it by any other name.
Quite a view from it overlooking the park.

Take Care.

Wednesday 1 February Part two

As you can see Meg was immediately at home, she has been before.

The Bridge in the background was always painted Green & White - it looked strange to see it in red. This was the main bridge over the River Croal into the park from Spa Road - across the bridge use to be a the riding stables, football and hockey pitches. There are now retail units on it.
If you ask me how many times as a child have run round the stone ring my answer would be hundreds, there are grooves in the stones from years of children enjoying playing there.
At the top of this path use to stand the Conservatory which later became the Butterfly House do not know what happened to the house but the Butterflies are now at Moss Bank Park.
All this area under the bridge and beyond was overgrown when we were kids.
Still looks as good as new even though it's over a hundred years old.
Another of the old bridges - not as fancy as the main one, there were lots of little ones like this.

Take Care.

Wednesday 1 February Part one

Had an errand to do so we called at Queen's Park in Bolton, it has a lot of childhood memories for us. I have to say but for the old stonework and bridges we would not have recognised it.

This Crocodile Carving is new to us but I loved it - and it is not what you expect in a park.

White Goose on the cleaned up duck pond - I wonder if it is my imagination but there seemed more ducks and geese of various types years ago.

Quite a few Canada Geese and one Mute Swan - perhaps we could send a couple from the lodge.

We did notice quite a few Moorhens - especially along the river.

Lord & Ladies  - Arum maculatum looked further on than those round the lodges.

Take Care.
