Saturday 15 November

A good morning and we wandered all over.
All the fungi has been ID by my expert friends - they will say enthusiastic amateurs, well they are good.

I can't say I have seen this before so another first, there was only one among the roots of a Sycamore Bulbous Honey Fungus - Armillaria gallica

The path to Lowes Tenement Farm
Photographer setting up for a long wait - hoping for a shot of the trout or salmon jumping.

On Silver Birch, Glistening Inkcap - Coprinellus micaceus
Sulphur Tuft - Hypholoma fasciculare var. fasciculare
 Tansy - Tanacetum vulgare

It was only the other day I found out the name of the cottage that once stood here, I am stood on what was the fire/oven looking out toward the weir, it was called Whet Stone Cottage, demolished in the 50/60s

Flowering again Bramble - Rubus fruticosus

Wednesday 5 November

Lovely morning, sun was shining

Even the crow comes for a bit of food

along with its' cousin the Magpie

I am stood at the back of what remains of Drybones Cottage looking at the view, it must have lifted their spirits to see this before a days hard work, I know it would mine.

Fungi think this is Sulphur Tuft

Thursday 10 July

Found this near Drybones there are plenty of Lords & Ladies in the valley but we rarely get to see the seed head - this one has not quite ripened - the seeds will go red if allowed but we rarely see them reach this stage.

Lords & Ladies - Arum maculatum

Sunday 30 March

Just views this morning on the blog, we took other photos of course but I feel a little nostalgic today so you will have to walk with me or move on :)

We start on Burgh Lane South this leads to Drybones pit head, cottage that was and wood, all worth a visit.

Straight down the path to the pit head

The old shaft is fenced off

This substantial stone must have seen and done some work

Carrying straight on and we see the old cottage area, this was burnt out a few years ago by vandals, it's a beautiful spot by the river.

A bit overgrown now the view from the front door.

a few remains and reminders that people lived and worked in the area.

View from the back door
