Damp again but mild and as you can see nature is fooled into thinking it's time to wake up.

Second flush of Bugle - Ajuga reptans, I don't think it will flower the temperature will cool and send it back to sleep.

Monday 14 April

I could not bring myself to put Sunday up as it was our usual walk to the Lower Burgh Meadow - words can not describe the desecration of what I considered a meadow just finding a good level of plant, insect and bird life, with more to come. I could hardly believe the total mess hardly any reed bed left standing - I have just read on the Chorley Natural History forum that at least 4 Reed Bunting nest have been destroyed two with eggs and studies that have been on going are now null and void . Who ever sanctioned this needs to be brought to account as this is not conservation its DEVASTATION, I would like to see the conservation report that should have been done and exactly what it contained and recommended. I would like to hear from someone who thinks this was a good idea and I do not want to hear that it was a mistake - we all know when birds nest, flowers grow and insect flourish so no excuses no passing the buck just stop trying to fix something that was not broke.

Dry morning my shoulder is a lot better, can't do any weight lifting but who wants to :)

We decided to have a look around the old cottage area that we see from across the top lodge, I must put some old photos on to show you how beautiful they looked back when life was hard and yet values meant  more, there I go on my maudlin soap box, I have got down and have relaxed.

 This is the old cottage area - steps that are being slowly covered by mother nature, she reclaims most things back after we leave.

 I always feel sad that we have not documented this area enough, not a lot of photos of what was a busy industrial community.

Christmas Morning and what a beautiful sunny walk.

 View to the Slippery Log on the edge of Spring Wood, the fallen log was used ford the muddy stream it has long since rotted away, perhaps it was a good thing - we used to do our balancing act across it - many times have we slipped in - now it's not so much fun crossing :)
