Wednesday 13 April

Dry this morning.
Sue saw one Roe Deer on the Sunny Brow side of the River it must have gone towards the rucks as we were on Sunny Brow at the time.

Bad news for the Long Tail Tit Nest - something has made a hole in the side - plenty of feathers about but we are hoping they are lining material not the parent birds.

Quite a few broken eggs on the ground. All that work and nothing to show for it.

Cuckooflower -  Cardamine pratensis out on Primrose Hill.

Sue calls these Kamikaze Mallards -

 Good job they can fly.

We found this notice thrown near the path - presume it's from the field

Take Care.

Sunday 27 March

Mild dry morning, we fed the birds around the lodges and then moved on to wander around the valley.

This Ash long dead has been supported by the Silver Birch nearby, it has rotted right at the base.

Common Dog Voilet - Viola riviniana another sign of summer coming.

Fungi on Silver Birch.

Yesterday we were pestered by the birds at this feeding spot - today we only got one the Great Tit.

No activity at the Long Tail Tit nest, hope it survives.

Friday 25 March

Thought it was going to be a dull morning as there was plenty of cloud about when we set off but it started to breakup and the blue skies with sunshine soon had the birds singing.

Blackthorn - Prunus spinosa

Roof now on the Long Tail Tit Nest - they were still busy back and forth putting the finishing touches to it.

Tuesday 22 March

Lovely morning for a wander over the Yarrow Valley.
After I had got rid of my bag of food for the birds we set off on our ramble.

Long Tail Tit Nest continues to grow.

I managed a bit of video this morning. They were very busy.

Plenty of Lesser Celandine  - Ranunculus ficaria in flower.

The nest is growing and also won't be visible soon, I will continue to keep an eye on it.

Meg below Sunny Brow bridge.

One of our many Charlie Robin - there seems to be a lot this year.
