Dry this morning.

 Common Mouse Ear - Cerastium fontanum

 Common Nettle - Urtica dioica

 Common Spotted Orchid - Dactylorhiza fuchsii - this shows just how hardy and forward the Hybrids are these are only just showing leaves.

 Dogwood - Cornus sanquinea

The resident swans have two cygnets, we have not seen them, Billy Swan is now in overdrive chasing everything on the Top Lodge, at least these Mallard Ducklings have the better of him in the reeds.

Mild & dry for the walk, we found the Heron fishing again - 

Frogs were on the menu - at least 3 while we watched.

Breakfast over.

Settle down for a rest.

Had a walk to the library and found

We had a bit of rain overnight so we expected to see more, it was dry all the way and lot of sunshine with it.

The Swan Family on the Big Lodge

All five look healthy.

Hedge Woundwort just through.

Lesser Burdock leaves.

Horse Chestnut  full of flowers.

Sticky Mouse Ear

Looking good the Touch Me Not Balsam.

Not so good Spanish Bluebells among our native ones in Burgh Wood.

Looks like someone has planted them - perhaps in memory of someone.

I often collect seeds as they ripen and spread them about plus I have a wild patch at the back of my garden that I allow any plants to grow.

Yes I have plenty of buttercups, dandelions, cleavers, bittercress etc.,

Then the odd one turns up - I have the most beautiful Herb Robert growing in the drain, I am already scattering it's seeds about.

These plants have all settled in my tubs and I think they are wonderful.

Lesser Trefoil flower or I should say flowers as the head is made up of tiny flowers - this one had 15, the bees love them.

Common Mouse-ear to be honest this is everywhere and I have to keep a check on it, this is brought in on our boots, I swill the boots off and nature takes it's course and my back garden gains another gem.
Thyme-leaved Speedwell.
Yellow Pimpernel also quite at home.

Monday 20 April

Another dry day, with the sun as well. Only three of us this morning, all the rest are back at work.

Common Sorrel the leaves can be added to a salad to sharpen the taste, it has a lemon flavour to me.

Damson flower - hard to tell the difference between these white flowered shrubs and trees, but we have picked damsons in the past from this tree. Looks like we might get a few this year, last year we saw none.

Elder

Garlic Mustard - in flower all over the place, another one for the kitchen.

Sticky Mouse-ear - as you can see it's very rare to see the flowers open fully.
