Monday 7 June

Dry again, we had a good look round Spring Wood, it is usually very muddy but this dry weather has made it perhaps too easy to access.

The Magpies seem to be on the war path over something, the wood was filled with their noise.

Yellow Pimpernel - Lysimachia nemorum - these are in Spring wood top end.

White Campion - Silene latifolia - seems to be getting thin on the ground, only found this one straggly plant. Will have to go back and see if I can spot any more.

Soldier Beetle - a lot of these about.

Female Scorpion Fly - quite a few about.

Miris striatus - I have seen this before but I got it ID, it is approx 10mm and it was on oak.

Marsh Thistle - Cirsium palustre - plenty around the edges of Spring & Burgh Woods.

Elder - Sambucus nigra

Male Dock Beetle - Gastrophysa viridula

Female Dock Beetle - Gastrophysa viridula

This tiny little spider with it's sputnik shaped egg sac has been ID as Paidiscura pallens.

 We call this Charlie's Field, it is triangle shaped clearing at the top end of Spring Wood.
