Our local Farmer has pulled the ragwort on this field - 5 builders bags full before he cuts it for fodder.

Saturday 1 October

It's going to be another hot day, so we got out early and what there was of the cool morning.

Sunrise at Knott End

Two Swans coming in for breakfast.

Little Egrets feeding on the beach at first glance we thought they were the swans we had seen earlier.

Sunday 21 August

Damp morning.

Broad-leaved Ragwort - Senecio fluviatilis

First glance I thought this was a fungi or mould on Broad Leaved Dock.

As you can see there are tiny,tiny caterpillars emerging from what now look like eggs, I have had a tentative ID of Sawflies but I would be interested in a full ID.

Saturday 9 July

On our own so we wandered on to the Lower Burgh Meadow.

Alsike Clover - Trifolium hybridum small patch just going over.

Broad Leaved Helleborine - Epipactus helleborine this patch had about 7 plants last year, they are here but look like the strimmers have done a bit of cutting down, unfortunately they are near to the paths edge.

Garden Privet - Ligustrum ovalifolium this one is part of an hedge in the village, the scent always reminds me of my childhood, it was always a popular hedge. Wild Privit does grow round here but I have not seen it flower yet.

Purple Loosestrife - Lythrum salicaria not a lot on the meadow I expected it to spread but it seems to be less this year.

Square-stalked St John's-wort - Hypericum tetrapterum there's plenty of St John's-wort about but not square stalked and yes this is also next to the path, I have yet to see this flower.
