Damp morning.

 Broad-leaved Ragwort - Senecio fluviatilis
 Broad-leaved Ragwort - Senecio fluviatilis
First glance I thought this was a fungi or mould on Broad Leaved Dock.
As you can see there are tiny, tiny caterpillars emerging from what now look like eggs, I have had a tentative ID of Sawflies but I would be interested in a full ID.

Tuesday 14 June

On to the Lower Burgh Meadow this morning, we had an excellent two hours just wandering about and checking for the Bee Orchid - we weren't disappointed.

Bee Orchid - Ophrys apifera even though we have a good idea where to look they are not easy to spot, I think this one looks like it's laughing.

Pyramidal Orchid - Anacamptis pyramidalis there are plenty of these in this area.

Green Sawfly - rhogogaster viridis on Perforate St John's Wort - Hypericum perforatum - it was a beautiful colour blending well with the leaf.
Perforate St John's Wort - Hypericum perforatum not in flower yet.
Common Figwort - Scrophularia nodosa var. bobartii - another rarity on the meadow. Unfortunately it's being eaten away by the figwort weevil.

On the way home we found Common Black Ground Beetle - Pterostichus melanarius. Not pretty to some but still a friend in the garden.
