River Yarrow from Sunny Brow bridge, the large item in the river has been there a long time it is a garden roller but the type that you would use on a large field - I am sure a lot of people have tried to get it out but without a good tractor I don't think it would be possible.

Monday 7 January

Damp again
We have had no rain for a couple of days, yet the paths are still deep in mud, thank goodness for wellies.

 The Dog Kennels from the Lower Burgh, no dogs barking this morning all we heard was the cockerel crowing.

The Tern Rafts being used by the gulls for the moment, they soon scatter when the feisty Terns come back to nest.

Rained most of the night and it was a very damp morning.

 The Yarrow was swollen 
 Look whose back Billy Swan, he is back to his old ways Lucy & the two youngsters are not welcome and he is keeping them at bay.

Sunday 20 February

Dry morning just above freezing.

We had the lodges to ourselves - this usually happens in bad weather but this morning it was good for rambling.

We see lots of these as Birch is one of the most common trees in this area.

Butterbur - Petasites hybridus just showing.

Butterbur - Petasites hybridus - flowers are open but it will get much taller.

Butterbur - Petasites hybridus - it's one that flowers first, the large leaves will follow.

Across the lodge we spot a cyclist who seems to be doing a bit of bird watching, well at least we have seen someone out and about. A moment later they were gone.
