Cold but we stayed dry

Billy Swan came out of the water after food even though I'd fed them earlier.

 

He sulked and went back in the water when I put the food away.

Thursday 12 February

Cool damp morning, we walked up to the top of Primrose Hill as the young ranger had just taken two bullocks back to their field - the owner of the bullocks & pigs is no farmer his stock roams all over and is out in all weather, totally useless why do these people show no responsibility toward their animals.

 The ranger had propped the old gate up, it's seen better days so we hooked over the old hinge so that they can't push it over, well that's the theory.

Friday 6 February

Cold morning, the temperature was dropping.

 Most of the lodge is frozen - there was just a patch against the trees where the swans and wildfowl are being fed, even the tern rafts are frozen in.

Female Blackbird waiting for her breakfast, we have seen a lot of males in the area so she should have plenty of suitors, bet she already has one, Blackbirds seem to start early in the year.

Frost this morning after all the rain, we did our walk calling at the tree

Damp & mild this morning, we had a good walk

 Arnold & George heading home - I am just beginning to notice Meg and how she has slowed down, she is still fit but now a days she is quite happy to stay with us more, then we must say she is 11yrs plus so what is an old lady in our eyes.

 This is another of the old Ash trees, it is at the top of Primrose Hill

This was the tiniest Grey Squirrel it was frozen for a good few seconds, must have been one of this years young.

Greater Birdsfoot Trefoil is very similar to Common but it has hollow stems (which makes it easy to tell) plus it looks sturdier

Lovely day for our walk

 7 Spot Ladybird our most common one

 Red Clover - Trifolium pratense

Known as Shield Bugs or Stink Bugs - I find them fascinating, they are found on various trees & plants, they also have about 4 stages they go through before they are adult - this is a new adult (so I am informed)
