Tuesday 14 June

On to the Lower Burgh Meadow this morning, we had an excellent two hours just wandering about and checking for the Bee Orchid - we weren't disappointed.

Bee Orchid - Ophrys apifera even though we have a good idea where to look they are not easy to spot, I think this one looks like it's laughing.

Pyramidal Orchid - Anacamptis pyramidalis there are plenty of these in this area.

Common Figwort - Scrophularia nodosa var. bobartii - another rarity on the meadow. Unfortunately it's being eaten away by the figwort weevil.

  1. Your Bee Orchids are an exciting find, I've also been looking this week and found 4 on an industrial estate lawn, but I've never found the Pyramidal Orchid in our area.
