Tuesday 24 March

The air felt damp this morning, we still enjoyed a good walk

Common Dog Violet - Viola riviniana still not seen any flowers on it this year

Ivy Leaved Speedwell - Veronica hederifolia

Lichen Painted Tree - always makes me think it has been sprayed with a dusty paint

Wild Strawberry - Fragaria vesca will not be any flowers on this for a while and we will be lucky if we see any fruit

Friday 20 February

No rain this morning

Coot trying to nest build we passed on our way back and no sign of any activity

Leaves of Cow Parsley - Anthriscus sylvestris

Put this up for ID and had a few names thrown in the hat but we seem to be settled on Lichen - Cladonia coniocraea for the moment - I haven't a clue but I will let you know if there is a shift in thought.

Thursday 19 February

Took this photo on our way home just before the heavens opened

Lichen - Ramalina farinacea - ID for me as I hadn't a clue.

I was soaked right through, my waterproof coat is no longer waterproof no matter what I do to it, so it was time for a new one and after our meal at the White Lion we went to Mountain Warehouse, bought one guaranteed waterproof for three years - I'll be happy with that, now I need some rain.

Thursday 12 February

Cool damp morning, we walked up to the top of Primrose Hill as the young ranger had just taken two bullocks back to their field - the owner of the bullocks & pigs is no farmer his stock roams all over and is out in all weather, totally useless why do these people show no responsibility toward their animals.

The ranger had propped the old gate up, it's seen better days so we hooked over the old hinge so that they can't push it over, well that's the theory.

This was taken from the gate looking toward Coppull

The Dipper was at the weir

Common Orange Lichen - Xanthoria parietina (probably the only on I can ID)
This and others yet to be ID was prompted by Joan's  Blog

Red Sky at morning shepherd's warning, it was on fire so we had been warned, we made it back home dry, the wind had started to make it self felt as we headed back.
