Thursday 20 January

Really cold this morning - well below freezing.

Harvey & Jake were out with Debbie. Harvey is still on the invalid list with his leg, he ruptured his cruciate ligament a few months ago, he had it operated on and is still on light exercise.
The dogs love this cold weather, even Dolly was having a run round.

Just look how cold it was, Billy has frosty ears.

Frost is clinging to Toots.

Total loyalty.

Sunday 17 October

We set off this morning not expecting to see anyone, we thought everyone was away or off for the day.

We were surprised to see the tribe on the Barrow Field.

Debbie appeared with the Boys - Harvey is on the lead - he has just had his cruciate ligament repaired and it is a long slow recovery, he his walking a lot better and he goes for hydro therapy which he enjoys.
Look at those eyes, he would love to join in but he also seems to know it would not be good for his leg.

Jake

Toots - no I won't look at the camera!

Teddy

Look at these two - enjoying a chat, looks very serious.

We don't see Paul very often, he's Sue's other half.

The chatting and walking went on for ages. We seem to have a lot to catch up.

Beech Nut - Fagus sylvatica, plenty this year.
Beech Nut - Fagus sylvatica
to all those who have never eaten them please note that they need to peel this skin it is bitter if eaten.
Beech Nut - Fagus sylvatica
this is the nut and I often wonder at the patience of our forebears, what a time consuming job, then again they had not got the convenience of a corner shop or supermarket.

Fly Agaric

Horse Chestnut - Aesculus hippocastanum, lots of conkers this year, I must get some.

Saturday 10 April

On our own again, we wandered all over - it was a lovely morning.

Ash buds almost in flower - it is a wonderful tree well worth googling, they can have all male flowers, all female or both, you can never tell what it is going to produce from year to year.

Cherry Plum - these flowers have been open at least a week, never found any fruits on this one.

On our way back our path crossed with Debbie & the  boys, they had been over Duxbury.
It was Harvey's Birthday.

Happy 7th Birthday Harvey

along with Jake

and of course Meg - I think they were barking Happy Birthday.

Sunday 14 March

Very mild, we soon found Debbie.
We ventured on to the rough land near the building site, its getting very overgrown - I am in two minds as to this being good or bad, my reason being the deer seem to frequent it - which was good when the area was remote, now it has a road almost up to it and houses being built in the next field, we saw two of the deer and we were only about 25 yards in, the reason we were concerned about the area was due to yobs once again trying to set fire to the grass on both sides of the area, are these the same people who torched the cottage? I would love to put them in a cage in the middle of this shrub land and let them feel terror as the flames get near.
I am now getting off my soap box.

Jake giving me a big smile or was he laughing at me.

Harvey was waiting for his Mum.

Meg was grinning to herself over the deer muck she had just rolled in.

Harvey leading the way to burnt area - the black patch almost in the middle of the photo.
Spreading into the rough, a big area.

Sunday 28 February

Just above freezing again.
We met up with Sue & Debbie.

The dogs always have a good time, they all do their own thing.

Meg & Dolly are always on the look out for treats, they know all the people with biscuits in their pockets.

Walking toward the gully in Spring Wood.

Meg checking up on me - making sure I am not giving any treats out.

Dolly & Jake - we haven't a clue what they could see or hear.

Harvey's doing it now.
